The following is the latest news on The "Love Her Madly" door, painted by artist Doug Wright.

The Doors Music Company has pulled the plug on the eBay auction of the "Love Her Madly" door. They are stating that the artwork is infringing on The Doors' copyrights.

We are working on handling this with them. We feel that:

1. The art is a beautiful tribute to the memory of Jim Morrison, and the project can only serve to increase the appeal and interest in the music of The Doors.

2. This is a one-time piece of artwork which is not being mass produced and will ultimately end up in someone's living room

3. No one is profiting from the sale of the doors. The proceeds of the auction are going to two worthwhile charitible organizations (The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, and Operation Gang-Free Streets), as are all the other doors in the series earmarked to benefit 501C-3 organizations

and as such, it is a complete win-win situation for everyone involved.

We have offered to pay a licensing fee for using the line of lyrics on this door, which has been denied.

Here is what one person had to say about it:

"I am sorry to learn about the concerns of the custom doors painted by Doug Wright. I don't fully understand the (Doors Music Company's) concern. As you know I purchased the first one offered, and it is beautiful! I know mine does not have lyrics written on it. I would think that the (Doors Music Company) would be flattered to have tribute paid to Jim in such a way. I think it's clear that you are in the Real Estate business and not even making money on this project. If you and your company were completely heartless, you would have knocked the house down without preserving any artifacts. I don't know what the (Doors Music Company) would want you to do with the artifacts?? Honoring these items with beautiful murals and taking the proceeds and donating them to various charities, I think Jim would be flattered, as he always championed for the underdogs. Art, cultural awareness, and stopping gang violence, sounds like Jim to me." -Scott M.

If you have comments or would like to be informed when this is straightened out and the door is back up for auction, please email us.
